Using a paper log thoughtfully
Record beverages, not every detail
Use a familiar volume unit and note only what is useful. This sheet does not estimate moisture from food and is not a medical record.
No required goal
Daily fluid needs vary. If a clinician has given you a target or restriction, follow that guidance. The blank target line is optional.
Tracking is a choice
A log may help with planning, but you can stop if it creates stress or does not help. A bottle count or informal note may be enough.
Digital alternative
The Daily Water Tracker stores entries in your browser on the device you use.
How to use the printable log
Choose a date, add an optional amount if you use a personal target, then select “Print daily log.” Your browser opens its print dialog, where you can choose a printer or save a PDF. The sheet itself has blank rows for time, drink, amount, and unit, plus space for notes. This page does not automatically save entries when you close it.
Pick a useful unit
Milliliters, liters, cups, and fluid ounces can all work. If you switch units, write the unit clearly so the amounts are not accidentally compared as if they were the same size.
Use the target line optionally
The blank target line is for a value you selected or were given by a qualified professional. It is not a recommendation built into the form.
Record beverages simply
A short label and approximate amount may be enough for personal planning. The paper log does not estimate water in food or calculate a clinical total.
Keep printed copies private
A paper log can reveal a personal routine. Store or dispose of it in a way that fits your privacy needs, particularly on a shared desk or in a workplace.
Choose the tracking method that fits
Some people prefer paper because it is easy to review without a device. Others prefer the Daily Water Tracker, which stores the drink entries in browser local storage on the current device. Neither tool is required for healthy hydration. You can also use a bottle count or no tracking at all.
Daily water includes beverages and moisture from foods, while this form is designed to record drinks. A written target does not override a medical fluid restriction or other guidance. The CDC water overview discusses how needs vary and how foods and beverages contribute. Read our Privacy Policy for details about the digital tools.
Frequently asked questions
Does clicking Print send my log to DrinkWaterUSA?
No. The print button calls your browser’s print dialog. This page does not upload the sheet to WordPress. If you choose a cloud printer or cloud PDF service, its own privacy terms apply.
Can I leave the target blank?
Yes. The target is optional. The log works as a simple record of drinks without a daily goal.
Is this a complete daily water record?
No. It records drinks you write down and does not measure the water in food or replace clinical monitoring.
